Puck’s getaway to his mansion was quick and fast. WRAITH were onto him. His mansion was covered in his fairy dust so he could lay low for now, giving him enough time to join his lovers in his bed for one last rendezvous. After that he would need to flee… Maybe the earthly realm needed a permanent toothless smile?

  Epilogue

It took Zander a few attempts to open his eyelids, but when he did he saw the slumped figure of his Sebastian sitting next to the bed with his forehead resting on the edge of the mattress. Sebastian was snoring softly and his right arm was extended over the blankets, holding Zander secure at the waist. “Always my Zysagian,” Zander said to himself as he reached over to brush his long fingers through Sebastian’s moss green hair.

As Sebastian nuzzled his head against Zander’s touch, the vampire looked around the bedroom. He had been here for two weeks, ever since the attack in the club and his Zysagian submissive had barely left his side, attending to his every whim and need. Both of them had been granted a leave of absence from the WRAITH headquarters to allow their recovery from the ordeal.

Zander’s lips formed a fangless smile as he took in all that Sebastian had done for him. Being a nature guardian, he had bedecked the bedroom in every Vargr flower and plant that Zander could name, and many he could not. As he was a vampire, he rarely got to see such blooms with his own eyes, most flaura and fauna closing up at night, awaiting the feeding rays of morning. It was like his own piece of daytime in a never ending dark world, and the thought and love that his Sebastian had put into the display filled him with pride and utter happiness.

What a difference two weeks makes, Zander thought. Directly after Puck’s attack, he had thought his life was ruined...what use is a vampire without his fangs? How would he protect Sebastian and himself now, how would he feed? His body had gone into shock and the pain wasn’t merely that of tooth extraction, for a vampire to lose his fangs was equivalent to a mortal losing a limb and the psychological impact of that had threatened to spiral him down into a deep depression. It had taken a lot of patience and understanding on Sebastian’s part to help him come to terms with the situation, and Zander didn’t know what he had done to deserve him, but he knew deep down that he had been given a blessing, and was thankful every minute of the waking night for him.

“You’re awake, my Ch’taren” Sebastian gave a lazy smile as he raised his head and pressed a kiss to Zander’s palm and inner wrist.

Zander cupped Sebastian’s face. “I believe it was you that was asleep, but come lay with me awhile,” he said and moved his body to allow Sebastian to climb in beside him, his back flush with Zander’s chest as the older vampire wrapped his arm tightly around his lover, inhaling the scent of fresh cut grass from his hair. “The room is spectacular, thank you.”

“You like it? I hoped that you would,” Sebastian drawled as he felt the seduction of sleep stalking him once more, feeling safe in Zander’s embrace. They lay there unspeaking for a few moments, enjoying the closeness of their bodies and the sanctuary that Sebastian had created. It seemed like they were in their own world and no-one and nothing could touch them here.

“I would like to try to feed, Zysagian,” Zander said, his voice a little nervous.

Sebastian stilled. It was the first time in a fortnight that Zander had actually asked to feed. He had tried everything to persuade him to try, now that he had lost his fangs, and his pleading and tough love approaches had all fell at the first hurdle. To hear Zander actually ask to try was a milestone and he turned around to face him. “I think that sounds like a very good idea Ch’taren.”

“It may hurt you, without my fangs I cannot provide the pleasure agent that would normally be injected when I pierced you,” Zander warned in a soft tone.

Sebastian put a finger to Zander’s lips as he sat up and straddled over his thighs, looking down at Zander with adoration and complete trust. “It is an honour to have you feed from me, Ch’taren. I am stronger than I look,” he said, as he took a ring from his finger and placed it onto Zander’s thumb. “When you were resting, I went out to the market and had this made for us.” He smiled as Zander inspected the jewellery. “It has been made by the purest Varganium metal and is inscribe ‘Let me sustain my Ch’taren’ in my native tongue.”

Zander looked at the blueish purple metal which was a simple band that wound around his thumb, snaking to a vicious point at the end. It was delicate and exquisite in its simplicity, and the inscription was perfect. “I don’t know what to say….”

“Then let us not speak…” Sebastian smiled as he wrapped his hand around Zander’s wrist and brought his hand up to his neck, letting the point of the ring score into his skin. He felt the sharp pain followed by hot trickles down his neck and as he leaned down to Zander’s mouth, he grunted in pleasure at the feel of his lover’s lips and tongue lapping up his lifeblood. As Zander fed, Sebastian kissed his shoulder and rocked his body slowly over him. They were discovering a new way to feed and connect, the pain mixing sublimely with the pleasure that was building, and both knew then that everything was going to be alright. More than that, it was going to be spectacular.

Once Zander had finished feeding, and both men had climaxed with the intensity of their bonding, they lay sprawled out on the bed, spent and happy. Sebastian suddenly sat up, and slid off of the bed, making his way to the far corner of the bedroom.

“Where are you going?” Zander watched him, confused.

Sebastian grabbed at something and hid it behind his back as he padded back to bed, grinning at Zander. “I had another present for you.”

Zander eyed Sebastian, matching his enigmatic grin as he tried to look behind him to see what he was hiding. “I am in danger of being spoiled, Zysgian. What do you have for me?”

Sebastian’s blue hued skin was entrancing next to the paleness of Zander’s and when he smiled the brilliance was dazzling. “I have created a hybrid orchid for you, Ch’taran.” He brought the flower around his body to place it on Zander’s chest.

Zander looked down at the orchid, speechless and full of emotion. The flower was blood red in the centre and the petals were softly frilled, and the colour of Sebastian’s green hair. Each petal was pulled back, like tongues and the centre was a trumpet guarding the stems in a crimson prison. It was a work of art.

“It is named the Zandendrobium orchid,” Sebastian announced, smiling with pride. And it only flowers at night, feeding on the nocturnal rays. It is the first of its kind.”

Zander’s eyes filled with unspilled tears as he reached over to Sebastian and captured his lips in a passionate embrace, putting all of his devotion and love into the one physical act. “You are a truly gifted nature guardian, I will treasure these flowers always,” and he kissed him again, this time indulging himself in the taste and feel of Sebastian’s mouth and tongue.

As Zander pulled back from their kiss, Sebastian relaxed against him. “There is only one other good piece of news to tell you. We had a communication from the Director at WRAITH. Puck is definitely no longer in Vargr, and his palaces and club have been seized by the Council. All his assets have been frozen. He has fled to the human realm and although the Hunters have not been able to track him, I don’t think we will be seeing him back here ever again.”

Zander rested his head against the pillow as he felt Sebastian curl his body around him. “That is the best news I have heard for a while,” he said with a relieved tone. “We can get on with our lives together without fear of a visit from the tooth fairy.” And as Zander smiled his fangless smile, he closed his eyes and held onto Sebastian tight, secure in the knowledge that he had found his eternal love, and they would face their future together.
